Here’s the Tata Pr1ma by Pininfarina concept Posted: 06 Jan 2010 12:52 AM PST When you think about Indian carmaker Tata, things like pick-up trucks and small, low-cost compact cars spring to mind. When you think about famous Italian design company Pinifarina, you think about passionate sportscars with clever design. So that makes them a perfect match! Don’t believe me? Check out this new concept above, which was unveiled at the New Delhi Auto Expo, taking place in India these days. Dubbed the Tata Pr1ma, it doesn’t necessarily hint at a production model, but it is definitely gorgeous. Tata revealed that the coupe-like sedan illustrates the three fundamental characteristics of the brand’s design. Could you guess what they are? Why “sportyness, interior space and quality” of course! But all joking aside, this is quite an attractive concept, even though it looks a bit like the Nissan 350z/370z. Hopefully something like this might appear as a limited series from Tata. Volkswagen brings Polo and Polo Cup Racer to New Delhi Posted: 06 Jan 2010 12:40 AM PST The New Delhi Auto Expo wasn’t just about new Japanese concepts, as Volkswagen also made an appearance, with its new Polo model and, as a special treat, a Polo Cup racer, which will debut in a national competition in India this summer. First off, the stock Polo will be available with two 1.2-liter engines, a petrol one which can output 75 HP and 110 Nm of torque, and a diesel one, which can develop 75 HP with 180 Nm of torque. It will be launched soon enough on the Indian market, with VW hoping to take a chunk of the compact hatchback niche. But the most interesting appearance was the Polo Cup racer, which boasts a 1.6-liter R4 diesel engine, which can output 130 HP and 250 Nm of torque. The car also features a six-speed manual transmission, an adjustable performance suspension, a new body kit, a racing seat and a roll cage, making it fit for its debut in June in the Indian Polo Cup competition. Video: Suzuki R3 Concept MPV makes its debut in New Delhi Posted: 06 Jan 2010 12:16 AM PST After a few compact cars, like the Toyota Etios and the Honda New Small Concept, the New Delhi Auto Expo also hosted the launch of a new concept, this time an MPV from the current leader of the Indian auto market, Maruti Suzuki, a subsidiary of the Japanese company, entitled the R3. Don’t let its looks fool you, as this Indian-designed concept was envisioned as a people carrier, with room for six people, and foldable seats which can open up a fair amount of room inside. It’s clear that this model was envisioned as a Jack of all trades concept, but what isn’t so concrete is the engine which will be available, as anything from Suzuki’s own 1.2 or 1.4-liter gasoline units to a Fiat-sourced 1.3-liter diesel have been rumored to power it. What’s established is that the concept will enter the Indian market around 2012, and, if the international reaction is good, might even reach, in one form or another, Western markets. Hit the jump to watch the launch of the model, and then share your thoughts about it. Source: Suzuki Post published on Rpmgo.com Related posts:

Honda reveals its New Small Concept, will sell it by 2011 Posted: 05 Jan 2010 11:59 PM PST The New Delhi Auto Expo is in full swing these days, and not content with letting other rivals steal the spotlight, Honda has just unveiled its New Small Concept (clever name huh?), which it promises to bring on the market before 2011. The new model is designed as a low cost car, capable of selling many units in developing countries like India, but also capable of supporting newer and pricier technologies in order to be sold on developed markets like Europe. The concept is quite striking to look at, and it will be interesting to see just how the final production model will look. Its price point will be near the newly revealed Toyota Etios, and might attract quite a few customers if it doesn’t change many things. Source: Honda Post published on Rpmgo.com Related posts:

Toyota unveils Etios low-cost concept in New Delhi Posted: 05 Jan 2010 11:46 PM PST Yesterday marked the beginning of the New Delhi Auto Expo, India’s largest auto show, and host to quite a lot of announcements this year. The first one was the reveal of Toyota’s new compact car concept, the Etios, which according to the manufacturer is 90% production-ready. While you may be inclined to dub it a Tata Nano rival, the Etios, when it will be released, will cost around $10,000, or around 4 Nanos. But you will be getting quite a few things for your money, depending on which body style you will opt, as it will be offered in both hatchback (the premiere choice) and a notchback, which will first enter production. Customers will get a 1.5-liter gasoline engine for the hatch, while the sedan will be equipped with a 1.2-liter one. Toyota is quite confident in the new model, which it hopes will sell around 70,000 units in the first year of production in India, and might even launch it in other countries such as China or Brazil. Europeans won’t be getting a taste of the low-cost model anytime soon, according to a representative. Source: Toyota Post published on Rpmgo.com Related posts:

Renault’s Megane CC treats us to its rear end Posted: 05 Jan 2010 11:27 PM PST More teasers everyone! This time, after seeing the overall body shape under a cloth cover, Renault has revealed a picture of the booty of its upcoming Megane CC, which will be launched at the Geneva Motor Show in March. If the French company is going to carry on like this, we’re in for quite a lot of pictures until the beginning of spring. Either way, the new photo is quite attractive, but don’t forget that even though it may look the part, the Megane CC, with its new folding glass roof and other systems will be a bit on the heavy side. What do you think about this new photo of the car’s rear end? Source: Renault Post published on Rpmgo.com Related posts:
