Now, the French company released a promotional video through which it celebrates all the things it has produced over the years, from bicycles to cars and everything in between. The ad is quite groovy and ends with the new Peugeot motto: Motion and Emotion. Hit the jump to see the video. Source: Automarket Post published on Rpmgo.com Related posts:

Detroit Auto Show: Toyota introduces FT-CH compact hybrid concept, Prius’ little brother Posted: 12 Jan 2010 12:24 AM PST Toyota knows it’s losing points with the younger population, and has tasked its design bureau in Nice, France, to come up with a compact hybrid which will symbolize fun and sportiness. As such, the FT-CH concept was born, and revealed yesterday at the Detroit Auto Show. The compact hybrid concept, which was teased a few weeks ago, boasts a very interesting design, and much smaller dimensions that the Prius (it’s a full 22 inches shorter). Designed with an 8-bit mentality in mind, the new car might just make into production, considering Toyota plans to launch eight completely new hybrid models in the following years. The small car may also be considered Toyota’s take on the Lexus LF-Ch concept, which was unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show last year, and a rival to the Honda CR-Z hybrid coupe, which is also being shown off in Detroit.
The small FT-CH definitely looks younger and more attractive than the Prius and might be a winning gamble for Toyota in the next few years. What do you think? Share your thoughts below. Source: WorldCarFans Post published on Rpmgo.com Related posts:

Next generation Volkswagen Beetle to use Jetta platform Posted: 12 Jan 2010 12:05 AM PST I’m sure Volkswagen wanted to New Beetle model to be a sales phenomenon, just like the original small car was. But combining small interior space with a high price tag just wasn’t something that would attract many people, so in the last 10 years, VW managed to sell just one million cars. For the next generation, things are definitely going to change, according to a Volkswagen source, which revealed that new elements will be implemented both in its exterior but also interior design.
The next generation is expected in 2011/2012, but a concrete release plan has yet to be revealed. Using the Jetta platform will certainly allow for more space, but I’m who knows if it will be a winner. If you’re still interested in the current New Beetle, don’t forget that the final special edition was revealed a few months ago. Source: Autocar Post published on Rpmgo.com Related posts:

Detroit Auto Show: Lincoln debuts 2011 MKX, goes all futuristic with the MyLincoln Touch system Posted: 11 Jan 2010 11:54 PM PST Ford is betting big on new technology, and revealed its MyFord Touch system, which was inspired by the movie Minority Report, a few weeks ago. Now, the first implementation of the new system that aims to incorporate anything from navigation to music and video playback in one simple to use touch screen will be the 2011 Lincoln MKX facelift. Don’t go expecting to see the MyFord logo popping up when you’ll turn on the new car though, as the luxury brand behaves it doesn’t know its owner and rebranded the system as MyLincoln Touch. Anyway, I’m sure most of the interested customers won’t notice that as they’ll be too busy playing with all the settings and the touch-sensitive sliders which have replaced all the buttons on the center stack. Expect the system to appear on other Lincoln models soon, and on the premium trim lines of Ford models. Source: Ford Post published on Rpmgo.com Related posts:

Detroit Auto Show: Hyundai presents 2010 Santa Fe facelift including new engines Posted: 11 Jan 2010 11:38 PM PST Even though it has already released two new generations for the Tucson and the Sonata, respectively, Hyundai isn’t backing down and revealed the 2010 facelift for its Santa Fe SUV, which not only includes a few cosmetic revamps, but also two new engines, at the Detroit Auto Show (NAIAS). In terms of looks, the new Santa Fe takes another step toward the more aggressive new generation Tucson, borrowing the lowered front fascia, but also takes a few cues from the new Sonata, in terms of the ridges on the hood. The most important aspect of the 2010 Santa Fe is the new engine lineup, with the old 2.7-liter and 3.3-liter being scrapped, and replaced with newer, more efficient units. The base Santa Fe is going to be powered by a 2.4-liter 175 HP engine, which is also present in the new Tucson, while another choice will be a 3.5-liter Lambda V6 unit, which develops 276 HP and 248 lb-ft of torque. These two engines will be coupled with six-speed gearboxes, but only the first will get a manual option. These transmissions allow the 2.4-liter to average 20/28 mpg while the bigger 3.5 gets 20/26 mpg. Source: Hyundai Post published on Rpmgo.com Related posts:

Detroit Auto Show: Chrysler-badged Lancia Delta shows off its new grille Posted: 11 Jan 2010 06:28 AM PST Chrysler is in the middle of a Fiat-supervised reorganization, so the Detroit Auto Show didn’t exactly mandate a strong presence from the US company. Sure there are a couple of new editions with various cosmetic upgrades, but one of the few new products is this: the Chrysler-badged Lancia Delta hatchback. I’m quite fond of the Delta myself, as it is a stylish car to say the least, but slapping a Chrysler badge doesn’t really increase the value all that much. Luckily, true car fans will know what’s lurking beneath, but for the average consumer, in my view, it’ll just look like a weird and expensive Chrysler. Hopefully it will be marketed in an original way and might herald the rebadging of other models (hopefully Alfa Romeo ones) and their release on US soil. What do you think? Share your thoughts below. Ford Fusion and Transit Connect win 2010 North American Car and Truck of the Year Posted: 11 Jan 2010 06:00 AM PST It seems Ford can already pop open the champagne at its Detroit Auto Show (NAIAS) stand, as the jury of the 2010 North American Car and Truck of the Year awards has chosen the Ford Fusion and the Ford Transit Connect as its respective winners for the two competitions. This is definitely a major win, and one of the few times both awards go to a single carmaker. The Fusion hybrid has definitely made an impact in the US, and it’s quite surprising that the European-made (Transit Connect trucks are even made in Romania!) are that successful in North America. Fusion’s contestants were the Buick LaCrosse and the Volkswagen Golf, while the Transit’s rivals were the Chevrolet Equinox and the Subaru Outback. Ford also won last year’s Truck of the Year award with its F-150. Post published on Rpmgo.com Related posts:

Volkswagen officially reveals its New Compact Coupe hybrid concept Posted: 11 Jan 2010 05:27 AM PST During the last few months, there has been a lot of talk about Volkswagen’s new compact coupe (cleverly codenamed NCC), which will be made for the North American market and wear the Jetta badge. Now, things can finally calm down and we can stop obsessing over sketches, as VW revealed its New Compact Coupe ahead of its Detroit Auto Show debut which will take place in a few hours. Although it appears to be a concept as of yet, the new model might reach the VW’s production facility in the US next year and transform into a Jetta coupe. The concept shown is a hybrid, based on the Golf/Jetta platform, and does have quite a lot of styling cues taken from the Audi A4/A5, especially in terms of the rear. In the front, it looks quite upmarket, a major step up from the current Jetta design. Under the bonnet, the NCC has a 1.4-liter TSI (aka turbocharged) four-cylinder engine, which develops 150 HP and 177 lb-ft (220 Nm) of torque, which will be joined by a an electric motor outputting 27 HP, powered by a lithium-ion battery. What’s even more interesting is that the setup is a full hybrid one, meaning the electric motor is capable of powering the NCC alone, during which the TSI engine is completely turned off, to prevent any drag effect. The performance figures are pretty decent, especially in terms of a hybrid, with the NCC going from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in around 8.6 seconds, and up to 141 mph (227 km/h). It will also output 98 g/km of CO2 and average around 45 mpg (4.2 liters/100 km). Overall, the Volkswagen New Compact Coupe hybrid concept checks every box, combining adequate performance, with a pretty good design and, most importantly, great efficiency. Hopefully we will see the new car on the road as soon as possible. Source: Volkswagen Post published on Rpmgo.com Related posts:
