2011 Mercedes-Benz CL Class revealed, packs new engines and options Posted: 05 Jul 2010 03:43 AM PDT The 2011 Mercedes-Benz CL Class has been officially revealed, boasting refreshed looks, new engines and a plethora of new options and systems. The front fascia has received the most new features with this redesign, boasting three new air intakes and a chrome strip. Other such inserts are also displayed by the rest of the new CL. LED daytime running lights are also featured in the front, while the rear also boasts a minor redesign. The biggest change in the 2011 CL Class is by far in terms of engines, more specifically a new 4.6-liter twin-turbo V8, which replaces the older 5.5-liter unit, in the CL550 4MATIC version. But while displacements has been reduced, customers will be thrilled to hear that it is now more powerful, 429 HP and 516 lb-ft, but also more economical in terms of fuel economy, by 10-15%, and in CO2 emissions, by 20%. The CL550 will be able to sprint from 0 to 62 mph in 4.9 seconds. While such a feat is mighty impressive, the range-topping model remains the CL600. It uses its 5.5-liter V12, capable of 510 HP and 612 lb-ft of torque to sprint from 0 to 62 mph in 4.5 seconds. A wide array of new features have been added to the 2011 Mercedes-Benz CL Class, some already seeing service in the S or E Class models. These include Active Lane Keeping Assist, Active Blind Spot Assist, Adaptive High Beam Assist or Night View Assist. The Command infotainment system is now equipped with a 7.2 GB hard drive, for storing all the info you need. The 2011 Mercedes-Benz CL-Class will be available in dealerships starting this fall, all around the world. Video: Russian Bentley Continental GT owner shows off and crashes Posted: 05 Jul 2010 03:05 AM PDT Russia is quickly becoming one of the largest markets for luxury carmakers, largely due to the big number of rich people who want to flaunt their worth by buying and showing off their rides. What’s even more profitable for automakers is that most Russian drivers really like to get ‘competitive’ so some showing off leads to crashes and work for auto mechanics. The latest example is a new video with a Bentley Continental GT owner, who decided to show off his ride around a grassy hill, filled with campers. As you can imagine, those 550 HP from the Continental was too much to handle, and resulted in the luxury coupe to damage its rear against a parked van. While most car fans would cringe at this image, its owner was quite pleased, displaying his foolish act for everyone to see. Hit the jump to check out the video and once again confirm that good taste can’t be bought, no matter the sum of money you have. Source: EpicFail Post published on Rpmgo.com Related posts:

Video: Mark Webber pit stops at Red Bull F1 stand in London’s Parliament Square Posted: 05 Jul 2010 02:47 AM PDT Red Bull really knows how to promotes its Formula 1 efforts, as after taking Jaime Alguersuari from Torro Rosso in a RB6 race car to a Dominican beach, it has now targeted London with a viral marketing attempt. As such, its Australian driver, Mark Webber, was given the keys to the RB6 F1 car, and just asked to do a pit stop. So, what’s so special about this? How about the fact that the pit stop took place in London’s Parliament Square, and the RB6 just rolled along the roads of the British capital, in between Black Cabs or double decker buses? Hit the jump to check out two videos of the whole event, one picturing just the pit stop, the other showcasing the reactions of Mark Webber and members of his mechanical team. Tesla presents the new Roadster 2.5 refresh Posted: 05 Jul 2010 02:31 AM PDT Tesla is definitely in a much better place these days, as after its IPO, a lot of money has been added to the accounts of the electric vehicle manufacturer. In order to celebrate this, the company has just revealed the 2011 Tesla Roadster 2.5 refresh, which improves the looks of the electric sportscar, but also adds new options to the range. The biggest change is at the front, where a new grille has been added, in the vein of the Model S concept we saw some time ago. The rear bumper has also received a new diffuser, but not a lot is known about its impact on the aerodynamics of the EV. On the inside, the seats have been redesigned, in order to offer a better comfort to the driver and passengers. They will also be able to enjoy a 7-inch touchscreen display, which can be wired to a backup camera system. No pricing has been revealed as of yet, but you can’t expect any huge changes here. Citroen DS3 R3 rally model revealed for private teams Posted: 05 Jul 2010 02:06 AM PDT Citroen is preparing to replace its C4 WRC rally car with a new model, based on the more compact DS3. Until then though, the French company has revealed a special Citroen DS3 R3 rally car, set to be offered to private teams and drivers that compete in the FIA Group R3T competition. The DS3 R3 uses an upgraded version of the turbocharged 1.6-liter gasoline engine, capable of 210 HP and 258 lb-ft of torque. The engine is kept in check through a sequential six-speed gearbox, complete with carbon fiber paddles behind the steering wheel. The suspension system is easily adjustable, in order to make the car ready for any type of surface, from gravel to asphalt. A lot of other rally modifications were needed, but customers will need to install their own seats, racing harnesses or fire suppression system before they start driving it through special stages. The Citroen DS3 R3 will go on sale at the end of the year, after the 2010 competition season ends. Source: Citroen Post published on Rpmgo.com Related posts:
