Special edition Chevrolet Camaro Convertible showcased in Nieman Marcus “Christmas Book” Posted: 07 Oct 2010 03:34 AM PDT Neiman Marcus and General Motors have announced that a special edition of the new 2011 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible will be showcased in the 84th edition of the annual Neiman Marcus "Christmas Book".The luxury retailer's catalog of ultimate holiday gifts debuted yesterday, at the company's flagship store in Dallas, along with the special edition Camaro. “Neiman Marcus provides a great platform to showcase the new Camaro Convertible,” said Tom Peters, Chevrolet Design director. “And, it enabled us to create a special edition car that combines the powerful design and performance of the new Camaro with an element of exclusivity, craftsmanship and customized luxury.” The special edition Chevrolet Camaro is based on the Camaro SS and features the exclusive Deep Bordeaux exterior color with "ghosted" rally stripes, which changes depending on the light. “The tri-coat, metallic paint shifts in response to natural light,” said Peters. “In low light, it appears almost black with a touch of deep violet. In sunlight, a little bit of red and burgundy appear.” The car's look is completed by the color matching fabric top and the windshield frame finished in matte silver. Other exterior highlights include exclusive 21-inch polished aluminum wheel with Pirelli P-Zero performance tires, LED halo-ring headlamps. On the interior, being a special edition, the car also boasts a set of unique features, such as exclusive amber-colored leather seating surface offset by black leather side panels and red stitching, with red elements also being used for the center console, steering wheel and shift knob. The exterior color Deep Bordeaux also shows up in the interior, on parts of the dash and door panels. Other interior features include Bluetooth connectivity and a 245-watt Boston Acoustics sounds system. Like we said, the car is based on the production Camaro SS, which means under the bonnet there's the 6.2-liter V8 delivering 426 hp and 420 lb-ft max torque when paired with the six-speed manual transmission, or 400 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque when mated to the six-speed automatic gearbox. With only 100 units to be made, the Neman Macrus Camaro Convertible has a retail price of $75,000 ($45,000 more than the entry-level model) and reservations for the car will start be accepted starting with October 19, with the first deliveries scheduled for spring 2011.
