I think we can all agree that Top Gear is one of the finest auto shows and even purely entertainment shows out there. I don’t know about you, but one of my favorite parts were the challenges, as I eagerly awaited the golden envelopes to be opened by the crew and see just what wacky thing they need to do.

But if you believe that you can do better and think of an unique challenge, then you can submit your idea to the production team and, if you’re lucky, you might win tickets to the Top Gear Live World tour, which will be hitting in its 2009-2010 period eight locations around the globe including: London (UK), Birmingham (UK), Dublin (Ireland), Johannesburg (S.Africa), Sydney (Australia), Auckland (NZ), Hong Kong (China), and Amsterdam (Holland).

A day after we revealed that new versions of the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG supercar will appear, among them being a Black Series one, a roadster and an electric, the boys at Auto Motor und Sport captured the Roadster convertible version of the SLS being tested in California’s Death Valley.

It seems that the model sports a folding canvas top, but one major modification has been made in terms of the doors, which now have handles that suggest the Gullwing-style opening mechanic has been replaced by a conventional one, in order to compliment the folding roof. In terms of mechanics though, it seems that it will still be powered by the same 6.3-liter V8 one, which develops 471 HP and 650Nm (479 lb-ft) of torque.

Toyota isn’t nowadays only about hybrids, as it also makes some of the best SUVs out there. After revealing the new Land Cruiser a few weeks ago, the Japanese company has now presented the 2010 4Runner model, based on the same platform as the FJ Cruiser but, as Toyota puts it, is “more rugged than the Highlander and more versatile than the FJ Cruiser.”

The new model is certainly bigger in all aspects and will now even offer an optional third row of seats, so that your vertically challenged friends can join in on your off road fun. In care you were wondering, the new model will come in three trim lines, the SR5 is the basic one, the Limited is the most luxurious while the best 4×4 fun can be had with the Trail version.

The Trail is most definitely the star of the pack, featuring a higher ground clearance, a new Multi-Terrain Select system, which makes sure you’re never caught off guard, the Crawl Control feature, which adjusts your engine speed and brake intensity if you are rolling down too fast off a hill and many more. In terms of exterior, the Trail will have black mirrors, front and rear bumper guards, a blackened set of head and tail lamps as well as 18-inch alloy wheels and a hood scoop.

The new 4Runner can be outfitted with 4×2 rear-wheel drive and part time 4×4 configurations, but the Trail mode will get your the full-time one, with a locking center differential, so that you can climb up anything anytime. In terms of engines though, every model will be fitted with an upgraded 4-liter V6 engine, outputting 270 HP and 278 lb-ft of torque. A five speed ECT-i automatic gearbox will be attached to it, and its fuel average will be around 17 mpg in the city and 22 mpg if you take it on the highway.

In case you prefer smaller engines though, next year will see 2.7-liter 4-cylinder engine be available for the SR5 model with a 4×2 drive system, which will offer 157 HP and 178 lb-ft of torque thanks to a four-speed automatic gearbox. Sadly though, it will still average around 18 mpg in the city and 23 on the highway.
