2010 Toyota Prius will be getting some aggressive bodykits from Tommy Kaira Posted: 29 Sep 2009 04:54 AM PDT Let’s face it, while the Toyota Prius may have set a new benchmark in popularity for hybrids, it hasn’t won any beauty contests. With some naming a turtle (both in looks and performance), many owners have been searching for things to liven up the car. Japanese tuning company Tommy Kaira may have just what many Prius owners have been searching for, as it just released concepts of up coming bodykits and aerodynamic packages that it will launch for the 2010 edition of the new Toyota Prius. While the overall look of the car will remain intact, these new kits of bumpers, spoilers, side skirts and grille trims will definitely make your Prius more attractive. Coming in both normal and carbon-fiber flavors, the new parts will be launched soon enough. Already available for the Japanese market are a set of quad tail pipes, which will make the small car sound bigger. Lowering kits and 18-inch alloy wheels will also be available soon enough. Do you think that these new bodykits will make people more interested in the Prius? Don’t be shy to drop a comment to this article. Ferrari 458 Italia will see a convertible version in the next few years Posted: 29 Sep 2009 04:39 AM PDT Here’s something that was pretty clear from the start, it seems that Ferrari will be unleashing a convertible Spider version of the brand new 458 Italia supercar in the next few years. The statement, made by the president of the company, Luca di Montezemolo, revealed that the plans are in place, but the new California model will be marketed as the most important convertible in the car lineup. Fans and enthusiasts alike were clinging on the fact that the model which the 458 will replace, the F430 saw the coupe and the convertible editions announced and launched in the same year. It seems that they will now have to settle with the California or the old F430 in order to drive a Ferrari and feel the wind in your hair. Got a dirty car? See how you can turn it into a work of art Posted: 29 Sep 2009 04:24 AM PDT No matter where you live, your car is going to get dirty one way or another. Be it from a nasty rain to other drivers raising the dust around your parked vehicle. Sooner or later, you will find the dust begin to form layers upon layers, especially if you don’t have the time to wash it very often. But one Scott Wade was having a bigger problem, as he lived at the end of a mile and a half of dirt road, on which if you were doing over 5 mph, your back window would get seriously dirty. As you can imagine, he got really tired of cleaning the window every time he went home, and started doing some more creative things. He used a few old brushes to paint a few things, possibly starting with a “Wash Me!”, but ended up doing some true works of art. The man is now doing recreations of famous paintings and other things on the back of his car, and is even doing some original art made by himself. The feat is quite amazing, but when the first rain comes, it will be lost forever. Luckily, his daily drives guarantee a “fresh canvas” every time. Enjoy the photos in this article and you can visit Scott’s website to see some more of his work. Post published on Rpmgo.com Related posts:

Truck full of bees crashes in Turkey, all hell breaks loose Posted: 29 Sep 2009 12:42 AM PDT Car crashes are some of the worst things that can even happen to a person. But being involved in a car crash then being assaulted by a few hive-fulls of bees is certainly even worse. Just ask the survivors and rescue team which engaged in an accident yesterday in Turkey, when large van carrying multiple beehives crashed into a truck which was stationing on the side of the road. Needless to say, the impact broke almost all of the hives and the angry bees started messing with almost anyone around, be them survivors or rescue teams. This forced authorities, to summon multiple beekeepers from the area to help them eliminate the bees. They, together with firemen and other rescuers used hoses, blankets and even rags to chase off the bees. It took them almost an hour to help all of the victims. In total, about 20 people needed hospital care, with six of them being injured from the crash and the rest being workers who were attacked by the bees. One person involved in the accident has died, but it isn’t clear if the bees aggravated his situation. The same thing happened in 2006, when another truck carrying beehives crashed in Turkey. Here is a video, of the rescue attempt from the crash site, showing just how hard the whole operation was. Fiat wants Chrysler to implement five new facelifts in 18 months Posted: 29 Sep 2009 12:28 AM PDT Fiat is seemingly wasting no time in turning its brand new partner company, Chrysler into a lean, mean, car making machine (pun intended), as its president, Sergio Marchionne revealed that he wants the US company to implement five new facelifts across the board to many of its models, and may even include the newly released Chrysler PT Cruiser. Among the models which will be on the receiving end of a beauty treatment are the Chrysler Town & Country, Dodge Caravan, Jeep Compass, Jeep Patriot and Dodge Caliber. The decision still needs to get approved by the board of directors of Chrysler and the Presidential Task Force on Automobiles, as almost all of the money will be taken from the public, but the company is quite optimistic, as it is rehiring designers, engineers and other staff members it has fired in the last few months. Do you think that these new facelifts will aid Chrysler and generate a boost in sales? Don’t be shy to leave a comment in the section below. Nissan GT-R smashes through newspaper box in the US Posted: 29 Sep 2009 12:17 AM PDT You’d think that after buying a brand new Nissan GT-R supercar that you would be a bit more careful with how you “wrangle” all of its power down the streets of a busy city like Houston, Texas. This particular owner, sadly, didn’t have what it takes, and in just a few meters managed to crash the expensive car into a newspaper box in the middle of the city. After looking at the picture, I really have to wonder, just how strong are those boxes, as the GT-R’s front bumper and hood are really messed up. Either way, hopefully we wont’s see any other beautiful Nissan GT-R’s in trouble. Read More: “Nissan GT-R smashes through newspaper box in the US” Post published on Rpmgo.com Related posts:

Russians from TopCar take on the Bentley Continental GT Posted: 29 Sep 2009 12:07 AM PDT The Bentley Continental GT is one superb car, but it seems that the work of art from the British automaker received quite a lot of improvements, courtesy of the Russian tuning house TopCar, which released a special edition of both the GT and the GT Speed, called Bullet. With no cues from the famous Bullitt Ford Mustang, this tuning package takes car of the aerodynamics and the wheels of the car, with no improvements to the already powerful engines that the two version have. Starting with new air intakes for the hood, and going down with a GT Speed grille to the new front bumper which now sports LED daytime running lights and a lip spoiler, the bodykit also contains side skirts and a rear bumper sporting a diffuser and side air vents. Other beauty enhancements like the boot lid spoiler, new exhaust tips and darkened front and lights were also fitted, along with the 20-inch standard GT Speed rims which received a darked coat of paint and can now be worn by the normal GT. If you fancy this tuning package, be prepared to fork out €25,000, or about $37,000 for the bodykit and rims. In case you want carbon fiber parts for your exclusive Bentley, then the price increases to €30,000 ($44,000). And, just in case you still have a bit of money left over, you can adorn your car with the matte black finish, like in the pictures, which will add an extra €7,000 or $10,300 on the bill. While the Bentley Continental GT is certainly fine car, this new tuning package might make plenty of its owners interested. Take the video tour of the Mercedes-Benz museum Posted: 28 Sep 2009 12:39 PM PDT There are certainly many companies making cars these days, but one of the most prestigious ones is Mercedes-Benz, establishing benchmarks for both quality and performance for quite some time. That is why the company has devoted an entire museum to its history, present and future, in all domains. As you might know, Vlad and Bobby recently took a tour of the three most prestigious German automakers’ museums, and will post some in-depth articles at a later time, but now Mercedes-Benz has just released a video presentation, tour if you will, of the halls of the museum. Enjoy the video below. Post published on Rpmgo.com Related posts:

Abarth creates the Fiat 500 R3T rally-spec model Posted: 28 Sep 2009 12:31 PM PDT The Fiat 500 has certainly captured the world by storm, being the city car to own for many trend setters, largely due to the rich customization options with which you can adorn your tiny vehicle. Fiat’s tuning division, Abarth, has also used the same mindset and introduced quite a lot of special editions of the Fiat 500. The latest one is the new Abarth 500 R3T, which is very special, as it is a rally-spec one. It will be entered in the 51st edition of the Sanremo rally in 2010 and in two other special rallies organized by Fiat and Abarth, in order to promote it. Just in case you were wondering, this will be one seriously potent pocket rocket, with a turbocharged 1.4-liter engine which will develop almost 180 HP at 5,500 rpm. Coupled with the sequential 6-gear dual-clutch transmission, it will leave other competitors in the R3T rally group eating its dust. But besides the engine, new adjustable suspensions which can lower or crank up the height of the car have been fitted, as well as 17-inch OZ rims hiding a performance braking system. In order to comply with safety regulations, a roll cage has been incorporated in the body, as well as special racing seats with 6-point safety belts. Either way, this new Fiat 500 rally-spec model is certainly stunning to look at. Let’s hope that it will handle itself on the track next year.
