BMW to launch 3 Series Gran Turismo version in 2011 Posted: 28 Sep 2009 01:55 AM PDT You’ve most certainly seen the new BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo (GT) version, which aims at delivering an unconventional design aimed at luxury customers who want the supreme comfort of a grand tourer in their BMW. It has definitely sparked a lot of controversy in terms of design, but it seems that BMW will stay true to the new philosophy. The company has announced that a Gran Turismo version of the 3 Series will also be launched in 2011, aiming at the market currently occupied by Audi’s A4 Avant model. Based on the 335i version of the current 3 Series, this new edition will presumably come in a four and five-seat editions, both sporting the unusual two-stage tailgate. Expect more details in the near future about this new model. Read More: “BMW to launch 3 Series Gran Turismo version in 2011″ Post published on Rpmgo.com Related posts:

Are you into hunting and luxury? Then this new Range Rover is for you Posted: 28 Sep 2009 01:26 AM PDT Hunting is still a pretty popular hobby nowadays because it can offer quite a lot of interesting thrills. But don’t forget that you need a car to get you and your precious guns to the forest, one which is capable to go offroad and keep those pesky PETA supporters from ruining your hobby. A popular choice is a Range Rover, which is quite elegant for the city but can handle itself on some mountain roads. In order to combine these two elements, the tuning house Overfinch has partnered with one of the biggest hunting guns manufacturer, Holland & Holland, and designed a custom made edition of the Range Rover Vogue version, specifically for the hunting enthusiasts. Based on the TDV8 5-liter engine, both the normal and the supercharged one, the two companies have truly designed something for the rich hunters out there. While on the outside nothing particular will pop out, except the new rims coated in black and some chromed ornaments, when you’ll pop the trunk, you’ll be greeted with a large surprise, as Holland & Holland outfitted it with a custom gun box. That’s right, a box designed for your guns and ammunition. Best hunter’s car ever or best road rager vehicle ever? Besides the box, Overfinch also decorated the interior with wood of noble essences, making an appearance in the dashboard, doors and center console. Besides this, the tuning team also added a mini-bar, in order to enjoy a nice cool drink after your hunting is over. For those of you already interested, only 100 models will be made, each with the price of €131.000. Read More: “Are you into hunting and luxury? Ferrari F430 tire explodes at 190 km/h (120 mph), driver escapes with just a scare Posted: 28 Sep 2009 01:02 AM PDT Having a blown tire can really suck, but imagine the tire exploding at around 190 km/h (120 mph). Well such a thing happened to a Ferrari F430 driver, which took his car on a “casual” drive. He was allegedly doing about 290 km/h (180 mph) when he heard a strange noise. He decided to slow down and investigate the problem on the emergency lane. He was a bit too slow in this regard, as the tire burst while he was still braking, at around 190 km/h. The results, as you can see, aren’t that bad, but it still makes me sad to see a beauty like the Ferrari F430 damaged like that. Hopefully blown tires won’t cause other victims, be them supercars or regular vehicles in the future. Aston Martin CEO says hydrogen power is the future for cars Posted: 28 Sep 2009 12:51 AM PDT There are certainly many trends these days in the car industry, especially about its future, as many companies believe electric vehicles running on lithium-ion batteries will become popular while others are focusing on hydrogen fuel cells and promoting this technology to power the electric vehicles inside cars. We’ve revealed a few weeks ago about a new hydrogen alliance, among which manufacturers like Daimler, Ford, GM, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Renault/Nissan and Toyota are a part of, but it now seems that even the CEO of famed UK super car maker Aston Martin sustains this train of thought.
He then revealed that the whole auto industry should focus on hydrogen fuel cells, calling for governments all around the world to invest in such initiatives and in infrastructure, so that we would all be able to enjoy the benefits of this new, eco-friendly technology. While this doesn’t mean that we will see a hydrogen-powered DB9 anytime soon, it’s quite nice to hear that even the president of Aston Martin is looking forward and realizing that normal cars will be replaced at one point in time. Land Rover to debut production-ready LRX concept in 2011, attacks the baby SUV market Posted: 28 Sep 2009 12:35 AM PDT The SUV market has been very good to all of the companies involved in it, with many people wanting to look at other drivers from the safety of big and bulky 4×4 vehicles. One of the most prestigious brands is Land Rover, which is preparing quite a lot of surprises for its fans. One of the most recent ones will target the Range Rover line-up, as the aggressive LRX concept car introduced quite a while ago will start manufacturing as early as 2011. The sleek 2-door baby SUV will be constructed at Land Rover’s new facility in Halewood, on Merseyside, and will be “the smallest, lightest and most efficient vehicle the company has ever produced,” according to the press release.
Sadly though, the company declined to reveal details about what engines will it use or what dimensions it will have, saying that new details will arrive next year. Until then, you can still choose from the Land Rover and Range Rover line-up. Bentley Mulsanne to receive coupe and convertible versions Posted: 27 Sep 2009 11:39 PM PDT As you may have heard, BMW-owned British luxury automaker Bentley has recently released the Mulsanne, a new high end limousine with which to take the fight straight to its arch rival, Rolls Royce. But while the new car has been introduced in the traditional four-door version, it seems that the manufacturer also has plans for a coupe and a convertible version, with which to replace the aging Brooklands and Azure models. The statement was made by the boss of Bentley, Dr. Ulrich Eichhorn, which revealed his confidence in the Mulsanne to set a new benchmark for elegance and luxury in terms of cars. A coupe and a convertible version of the car will only help in accomplishing this goal, he added.
The new versions are still a bit far away, as Bentley will focus its marketing and manufacturing efforts on the normal version of the Mulsanne for the next few years. Chances are the future models will also use the monster 6.75-liter supercharged V8 engine, which develops 505 HP and 1020 Nm (752 lb-ft) of torque. Danish Road Safety ads warn you to stop speeding Posted: 27 Sep 2009 07:50 AM PDT Almost all of us have done it one time or another, we were in a hurry to get somewhere, so we pushed the gas pedal lower than we usually do in order to get there in the nick of time. But the speed was way over what was legally permitted. Nothing really dangerous happened, but according to these ads from the Danish Road Safety associations, even 10 km/h more than the recommended speed limit can be essential in saving your own life, the lives of the people with your or the lives of the people who got involved in your accident. Enjoy these two ads, but remember to obey the laws in your country so you won’t get a hefty fine or even worse, just because you were in a hurry. The second is right after the jump.
