ABT Audi R8 GT S

Last year in Geneva, ABT presented a 600-hp version of the Audi R8 V10 Spyder. They didn't stop there as this year they've unveiled another variant of the R8, this time packing 620 hp under the bonnet and a red & black styling theme.

The outside of the ABT R8 GT S has a red paint finish that is contrasted by the use of carbon fiber parts in the middle section of the car. Carbon fiber was used for the engine compartment, red air scoops, windscreen frame cover and both of the front and rear skirts – all in order to reduce the overall weight of the car, although they didn't say by how much. It also got a brand new set of rims that are available in 19-inch and 20-inch sizes.

They've used the same red & black theme for the inside along with carbon fiber parts, including the door trims and the dashboard.

This increase in power from 520 hp to 620 hp was possible by installing a performance kit that includes a sports exhaust system, allowing the 5.2-liter V10 to take the car to 60 mph in only 3.6 seconds, before reaching a top speed of 199 mph (320 km/h). To round up the upgrade program, they've installed a more taut suspension.

Geneva 2011 – Tata Pixel

Tata Pixel

As most of you already know, Tata is the Indian creator of the Nano and for this year's Geneva Motor Show they've brought a brand new concept city car – the Pixel. It measures only about three meters in length and according to the automaker is "the most package efficient four-seater in world" and is fully capable of "comfortably accommodate four adults".

Tata Pixel

The design of the Pixel concept is quite similar to that of the Pininfarina Nindo, but there aren't any information regarding a possible collaboration between the two companies, most likely it is a rip-off. The most important feature of this tiny car would have to be the Zero Turn system that can enable maneuvering and parking in very tight spaces. The IVT – Infinitely Variable Transmission assists rotation of the outer rear wheel forwards and the inner rear wheel backwards at low-speed maneuvers, allowing the car to have a turning circle radius of only 2.6 meters.

To facilitate parking in tight spaces, the Pixel's doors open upwards, just like the ones on the aforementioned Pininfarina Nindo. The concept has another intelligent system, dubbed "My Tata Connect", through which the driver can control key functions of the vehicle using only his tablet PC or smartphone.

Tata Pixel

The Pixel concept has a 3-cylinder 1.2-liter turbocharged diesel power unit that was installed in the rear and the Indian automaker said that with this engine, the car will do 69 mpg (3.4 liters / 100 km) and have CO2 emissions of only 89 g/km, thanks to the optimized aerodynamic drag, the low rolling-resistance tires and the now very popular start-stop technology.

Tata Pixel

The company affirmed that there are some chances of rolling out a production version of this concept which certainly won't be as cheap as the Nano.

Audi RS3 Sportback

They've announced it back in November, and now they've brought to Geneva. We are talking about Audi's new RS3 Sportback model. Designed to be the latest edition of the current A3 platform, this high-performance variant comes with a very aggressive front fascia, matt aluminum accents and an anthracite grille.

Audi RS3 Sportback

On the side, you'll notice the new aerodynamic skirts while in the back it has an imposing dual exhaust system. The new Audi RS3 Sportback rolls on 19-inch alloy rims, designed in order to emphasize the car's sporty breed.

Inside the cabin you will find the Nappa leather sport seats, a flat-bottom steering wheel, piano black trim and a driver info system with a lap timer.

Audi RS3 Sportback

The highlight of this car is without any doubt its engine, a 5-cylinder turbocharged 2.5-liter that cranks out 335 hp (340 PS / 250 kW) and 332 lb.-ft (450 Nm) of torque. This power unit is mated to a 7-speed S-Tronic gearbox, allowing the car to do the 0-60 mph sprint in only 4.6 seconds, onto an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h).

Audi RS3 Sportback

The new RS3 benefits from a quattro all-wheel drive system, a sport suspension that lowers the car by about 25 mm and they've also fitted it with a high performance brake system with ventilated discs, measuring 370 mm in the front and 310 mm in the back.

Audi RS3 Sportback

The Audi RS3 Sportback will hit the German dealerships very soon and will have a starting price of 49,900 Euros.

Porsche Panamera S Hybrid

The hybrid version of the Porsche Panamera S was unveiled this week at the 81st edition of the Geneva Motor Show. Just like the Cayenne S Hybrid, the Panamera features a V6 3.0-liter engine that develops 328 hp (333 PS / 245 kW) and an electric motor that produces 46 hp (47 PS / 35 kW).

Porsche Panamera S Hybrid

Combining these power figures, the car has a total power output of 375 hp (380 PS / 279 kW) and 428 lb.-ft (580 Nm) of torque. The hybrid can sprint to 60 mph in 6 seconds, before hitting a top speed of 168 mph (270 km/h).

Porsche Panamera S Hybrid

The German automaker said that the Panamera S Hybrid can do 34.6 mpg (6.8 liters / 100 km) and CO2 emissions of only 159 g/km. Forget about driving the car only on electric mode as it can do only 1.24 miles (2 km).

Porsche Panamera S Hybrid

As far as the design is concerned, there are no major changes in comparison to the conventional-powered version. However, the hybrid has an adaptive air suspension, a rear wiper, as well as an updated infotainment system.

Porsche Panamera S Hybrid

The car will hit the German dealerships this June at a base price of 106,185 Euros, including taxes.

Geneva 2011 – Carlsson C25 Royale Mercedes SL65 AMG

Carlsson C25 Royale Mercedes SL65 AMG

Many tuning companies brought their latest creations at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show and Carlsson wasn't going to miss this opportunity to show us their latest project. The C25 Royale is based on the Mercedes SL65 AMG and it is a heavily customized coupe that has a fixed rooftop. Carlsson said that they are going to make only 25 units of the C25 Royale and 6 of them have been already sold and will be delivered to their buyers this year. They also said that after the order has been placed, the customer has to wait six months.

Carlsson C25 Royale Mercedes SL65 AMG

The C25 Royale is 180 kg lighter than the SL65 AMG thanks to the extensive use of carbon fiber on the fixed roof and on the bonnet. Not only the weight is down but the car's center of gravity has been lowered, which means that the handling should be a little bit better.

Carlsson C25 Royale Mercedes SL65 AMG

In order to lower the weight, they've replaced the SL65's standard brakes with a full ceramic brake system that is 50% lighter. The car features a Carlsson-developed C-Tronic Suspension system that is capable of detecting the road conditions and driving style and act accordingly. To give you an example, on bad roads, the C25 Royale is raised in order to offer better ride comfort.

Carlsson C25 Royale Mercedes SL65 AMG

Under the hood there is a V12 bi-turbo engine that was tuned in order to produce 753 hp and a remarkable 973 lb.-ft (1,320 Nm) of torque that has been limited to 848 lb.-ft (1,150 Nm). With these hardware specifications, the Carlsson C25 Royale can sprint to 60 mph in 3.7 seconds, before hitting a top speed of 219 mph (352 km/h).

Women Patience and Parking

Posted: 03 Mar 2011 07:25 AM PST

Whoever has said that women can not handle parking in tight spaces is wrong. Watch the video below and you'll change your opinion: that's what we call the clear sign of feminine perseverance and patience when it comes to parking their car.

Click here to view the embedded video.

A man would have probably used his horn until the owners of the two cars that had blocked his would have appeared. That woman has chosen a more elegant way to solve the problem, even though more women were involved, not just the driver.

Do you have any examples of this type? Share it with us!

Geneva 2011 – Mansory Siracusa Ferrari 458 Italia

Mansory Siracusa Ferrari 458 Italia

I never was a big fan of Mansory because most of their projects are outrageous. One exception would have to be the Siracusa, based on the beautiful Ferrari 458 Italia. Named after a Sicilian raceway, the engine of the car has been upgraded to 590 hp (434 kW) and 413 lb.-ft (560 Nm), which means that it 20 hp / lb.-ft more powerful than the standard version.

Mansory Siracusa Ferrari 458 Italia

With the installation of many carbon fiber body panels that lowered the car's weight, Mansory says that this 458 Italia is able to sprint to 60 mph in only 3.2 seconds, before hitting a top speed of 205 mph (330 km/h).

Mansory Siracusa Ferrari 458 Italia

It sports Siracusa 20-inch wheels in the front and 21-inch out in the back, wrapped in Michelin rubber. Inside there is leather, carbon fiber and the rest of the lot. They've also installed a new suspension system that lowers the car by 20 mm.

Just like other Mansory projects, you either love it or hate it.

Geneva 2011 – SsangYong SUT 1

Posted: 03 Mar 2011 06:00 AM PST

SsangYong SUT 1

At the beginning of February, the Korean automaker SsangYong announced that they will bring to the Geneva Motor Show their SUT 1 concept, a stylish pickup truck that will most likely get a production version in the months to follow.

SsangYong SUT 1

Designed in order to replace the current Actyon Sports, the company said that the goal of the SUT 1 concept is "to be the world's best pick-up truck" – they sure are ambitious. This concept is ten times more appealing than the very ugly Actyon Sports. They ditched the boat-like nose and those unattractive "crying" headlights, conceiving a more attractive front look with an imposing honeycomb grille and very modern headlamps.

SsangYong SUT 1

The bad news is that the rest of the SUT 1 concept is just about the same. The profile is almost identical, only the roof and the load-area rails are new. Out in the back, the only significant changes would have to be the higher-placed restyled taillights and the mild updated rear door. In my opinion, it is more like a facelift, rather than an entirely new concept, but it still looks far better than the model that it will replace.

SsangYong SUT 1

Under the hood they've installed a 2.0-liter diesel power unit that has a low level of CO2 emissions – 193 g/km, for the rear-wheel-drive model fitted with a manual transmission. The engine is capable of producing 155 hp and 266.5 lb.-ft (360 Nm) of torque from only 1,500 rpm.

Just like the aforementioned Actyon Sports, the production version of the SsangYong SUT 1 will be available with either RWD or AWD and with 6-speed manual or automatic transmissions.

SsangYong SUT 1

The production version will be launched in the second half of this year and sales will commence in early 2012.

Geneva 2011 – De Tomaso Deauville

De Tomaso Deauville

If this isn't your first time on rpmGO, you've probably heard that De Tomaso is back in business and at this year's Geneva Motor Show they've brought their new model, dubbed Deauville (previously known as SLC and SLS).

De Tomaso Deauville

I have to say that the design of this car is rather boring, just like the one on the BMW 5-Series GT – when they've designed the car they probably had a picture of the bimmer in front of them as the resemblances are obvious. I was expecting more from Pininfarina as they are responsible for the design of this crossover. Inside the cabin, the Deauville has a plus, handcrafted interior where Alcantara, leather and carbon fiber were used, nothing out of the ordinary.

De Tomaso Deauville

This "sport luxury sedan" (SLS) will have a four-wheel drive and is going to be offered with one of the following engines: a V6 turbocharged unit that will develop 300 hp, a more powerful V8 that cranks out 550 hp and a diesel V6 that will output 250 ponies.

De Tomaso Deauville

The De Tomaso Deavuille will hit the showrooms this September and my guess is that nobody will buy it. They should have stick with the old recipe, like the Mangusta and the Pantera, those were some great cars while this is just a 5-Series GT clone, and a bad one I'm afraid.
