Audi A6 makes metal do anything it wants in the new ad

Shapes is one of the most fascinating things about a car. Audi took this fascination for metal manipulation and came up with an ad that defines the latest Audi A6.

Using lighter materials to build an all-aluminum unibody structure, Audi will cut no corners to make the 2012 A6 perfect.

The ad features a man with incredible skills and talent, that shapes blocks of aluminum as if they were made of clay. The lovely feeling that you can shape your heart’s desires is quite lovely, we must admit. Enjoy!

A spy video of the forthcoming 2012 Mercedes ML has surfaced the Internet this week, showing a few camouflaged prototypes testing in Sweden's cold weather. Although the German automaker did not reveal any information about the new generation of this model, we can make certain speculations. Most likely, the new ML will be available with a choice between gasoline and diesel engines, with a 2WD configuration or a 4Matic AWD system. Probably there is going to be an AMG version of the model which will be launched later on after the standard model will hit the dealerships.

The non-AMG version will probably be fitted with a V6 3.5-liter gasoline engine that will crank out 300 hp, or a more powerful V8 4.4-liter twin-turbo. We don't know any info about what diesel engines will be available for the SUV. What we think is that the car will benefit from some eco-friendly technologies, like the start/stop system for example, along with more efficient engines that eat up less fuel and have lower CO2 emissions.

The AMG version will most likely get an all-new 5.5-liter that will produce more than 500 hp, in order to keep up with the BMW X5M.

Tesla Roadster Goes On Tour

Tesla Roadster

Tesla Motors is organizing the "Oz Goes Electric" tour with the aim of allowing fans from the eastern coast of Australia to get a closer glance at the sexy electric-powered sports car. The tour started yesterday and the car will journey 1,864 miles (3,000 km), which according to the automaker is the longest road trip made by an electric vehicle in Australia.

This tour will cover the states of Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland, and will feature test drive events, along with public displays of the car. In Victoria, the tour has been included in the local government's Electric Vehicle Trail, a program created in order "to improve the awareness, understanding and acceptance of electric vehicles."

The Tesla Roadster holds the production EV record for the distance covered on a single charge – a remarkable 311 miles (501 km), set in Australia back in 2009. Besides the great driving range and excellent looks, the car is also very fast, as it needs 4 seconds to reach 60 mph.

Audi R8 GT Arrives In The United States

Audi R8 GT

The German automaker Audi has revealed the price list for the limited run R8 GT at the launch of sales in the United States market. The meanest R8 has a base price of $196,800, compared to "only" $114,200 for the entry-level model that packs a V8 4.2-liter engine, and the $149,000 version that has a more powerful V10 5.2-liter.

Audi R8 GT

The interesting thing is that the R8 GT is still considerably cheaper in the US, if we look how much it costs in its homeland Germany – about $269,300. I never understood why some cars are more expensive "at home". If you have enough money saved, grab one while you still can as they will only make 90 units for the US market.

Audi R8 GT

The 2012 Audi R8 GT is offered with many performance and styling changes over the regular R8 V10 model. The most important modification would have to be with the engine, as the V10 5.2-liter FSI power plant has been upgraded and it now produces 560 hp, that's 35 hp more than the standard version. Other important changes include the weight saving measures that managed to shave off about 220 pounds (100 kg) over the R8 Coupe 5.2 Quattro. In addition, the model packs specially tuned suspension and ESP systems, a new body kit and carbon ceramic brakes.

Audi R8 GT

The engine will be mated to an R-Tronic sequential manual gearbox, allowing the R8 GT to do the 0-60 mph sprint in 3.6 seconds, on its way to a top speed of 199 mph (320 km/h).

Mahindra & Mahindra Buys SsangYong

SsangYong SUT 1

The Indian industrial giant Mahindra & Mahindra has announced yesterday that they have completed the acquisition of a majority stake in the South Korea-based SsangYong Motor Company. This deal also signals the fact that SsangYong is no longer in court receivership. Back in August last year, Mahindra won the bid for the troubled Korean automaker.

The first results of this acquisition will be seen when the Korando-C and Rexton models will make an appearance in the Chinese market. The president of Mahindra & Mahindra said that "Ssang Yong will be an independently run Korean company – with largely Korean Management – and will remain a "Made in Korea" brand". The CEO of SsangYong is now Yoo-il Lee, while the CFO is Dilip Sundaram.

Mahindra affirmed that it has proposed a 70% investment increase in the development of new products (compared to last year) for the Korean automaker in 2011.

If you remember, at the beginning of this week we've talked about SsangYong's new SUT-1 Concept that was unveiled in Geneva, a model that previews a pick-up truck the company will start selling next year.

Spy Shots: 2012 Mini Coupe & Mini JCW Coupe

Posted: 17 Mar 2011 12:00 AM PDT

WCF's photographers have taken a few spy shots with the 2012 Mini Coupe and the Mini John Cooper Works (JCW) Coupe undergoing some tests on the streets of Munich, Germany. First introduced back in 2009 at the Frankfurt Motor Show as the Mini Coupe Concept and the Mini Roadster Concept, these photos give us a clue about how will the final products of these two cars will look like.

Taking into consideration that they've camouflaged the rear upper body, the automaker is trying to hide the taller dimensions of the greenhouse and the steeper windshield, in comparison to the aforementioned concept. As far as the JCW version, it looks just about the same as the one we saw in 2009, including here the body kit, reverse baseball cap roof and the rims.

Pervious rumors said that the cars will be introduced this month at the 81st edition of the Geneva Motor Show, but it seems that Mini wasn't ready yet. Most likely, the cars will be unveiled later on this year.
