Hyundai and GReddy preview the Genesis Coupe 2-liter turbo ahead of SEMA debut Posted: 07 Oct 2009 05:13 AM PDT I’ve been a long time fan of the Hyundai Coupe models, especially the latest Genesis model and at the same time I hunted down many tuned models of the Genesis, so you can pretty much guess that this preview revealed by Hyundai and aftermarket performance equipment company GReddy made my day. Dubbed the GReddy X Gen Street Genesis Coupe, and set to be revealed at this year’s SEMA show in Las Vegas, the model is based on an entry-level Genesis with a 2-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. By putting all of its best equipment in the car, the Japanese company took the stock performance values of 210 HP and 223 lb-ft of torque to a dizzying 350 HP and 320 lb-ft (433 Nm). This translates in a 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) time of under 6 seconds. The list of enhancements is pretty long so just bear with me: an upgraded turbocharged, a big front-mounted intercooler system, a cat-back exhaust system SE Spectrum Elite, MX racing downpipe, a set of fully adjustable coil-over Type-S suspension, new brake calipers with six pistons in the front and four in the back and many more. In order to make it look the part, the team also outfitted a lip spoiler, a carbon fiber hood, a big rear wing and placed the car on a set of Volk Racing G2 rims wrapped in Toyo performance tires. On the inside the seats were replaced with a set of Sparco racing ones, the gauges have been modified, alongside the boost controller and turbo timer. After the debut of the model at SEMA, GReddy will sell all of the parts made for the Genesis Coupe. This doesn’t mean that their efforts won’t stop, as the company said it will continue and wants to push the engine to produce around 500 HP. First photos of the Toyota FT-86 Concept revealed, Toyota and Subaru’s RWD sports coupe Posted: 07 Oct 2009 12:55 AM PDT Toyota fans were forced up until a few years ago to look to the past and remember the great models which came from the land of the rising sun: the AE86, the Supra, the MR2, the Celica. Sadly though, no other RWD sports coupes were developed by the company which seemingly abandoned its sporting heritage in favor of hybrid cars and SUVs. But when the company announced that it will partner with Subaru, which continued developing its Impreza model, in order to create a brand new RWD sports coupe, fans were anxious once more and believed that the Celica would make a comeback. After many rumors and speculations, it seems that the two companies will finally unveil a pre-production concept of the new FT-86. The new sports model, whose name is a nod to the iconic AE86 Sprinter Trueno (the hachi roku), will be powered by Subaru’s 2-liter four-cylinder boxer engine, but no power readings were offered by the two companies. It will power the rear wheels and, according to some rumors, it might generate anywhere from 150 HP to even 200 HP.
While the interior still looks like that of a futuristic concept, the outside design, penned at Toyota’s bureau in Nice, France, might receive only minor changes when it will go into production in 2011. Enjoy the photos in this article and stay tuned for more information as the new concept will be revealed at the end of the month at the Tokyo Motor Show. Show your Corvette love with this new headstone design Posted: 07 Oct 2009 12:34 AM PDT Yeah, you read right, it seems that Indianapolis Corvette fans can really flaunt their love for the great American sports model by getting … wait for it … customized headstones with the famous muscle car. Not just any model, as the company which makes them tackled the 2007 Indy 500 Pace Car model, which was custom made for the famous NASCAR race. While we’ve seen quite a lot of interesting headstones, the level of detail on this one is quite striking. This would have definitely made a lot of your “neighbors” quite jealous, except you would all be dead and buried. What do you think about this great example of brand dedication? Don’t be shy to leave a comment and tell us just what car would you love to see on a tombstone. Source: Jalopnik Post published on Rpmgo.com Related posts:

Nissan GT-R driver plows car into Canadian bank Posted: 07 Oct 2009 12:23 AM PDT *Sigh* Here we are yet again reporting on a car crash, and once more, the beautiful Nissan GT-R is the victim of a sloppy driver which couldn’t contain the power of “Godzilla” and ended up plowing his car straight into a Canadian bank in Vancouver. It seems that the driver lost control of the car and unwillingly ran his beautiful supercar into a VanCity Credit Union agency. Luckily though, he ran straight into the ATM machines, meaning that nobody in the bank got injured, the driver also escaped with a few scratches, but the car sustained a lot of front end damage. All we can do is shed one more tear and keep on protesting that powerful cars should only be sold to experienced drivers. Source: CarScoop Post published on Rpmgo.com Related posts:

Hairdresser sets highest speed on Scottish roads, gets banned from them Posted: 07 Oct 2009 12:07 AM PDT You would think that the people most prone to breaking speed limits are the boy-racers and other such persons, but it seems that one Neil Purves, a hairdresser from Scotland has managed to reach the highest speed recorded on the roads of the UK region, while riding on his Suzuki GSX-R 1000 bike. The hairdresser got caught by the police while going at about 166 mph (267 km/h) on a stretch of road limited to 60 mph, near West Linton. The man was caught by the police and banned from the roads for a period of time, but his case is still awaiting trial in court.
It has also been revealed that after receiving the ticket the man did try to mend his ways, by taking an advance driving course, but he eventually decided to sell his Suzuki bike which produced around 185 HP from the 999cc engine. Source: BBC Post published on Rpmgo.com Related posts:

Swedish man creates his own Batmobile, spends three and a half years and $1 Million Posted: 06 Oct 2009 11:50 PM PDT “I’m currently looking through my schedule and it seems that I have about three and half years and about $1 Million which haven’t been occupied. I wonder if I can do something with my old 1973 Lincoln Continental which currently sits in front of my lawn…” This is what might have passed through the mind of a Swedish man which has created a fully-functional Batmobile, the one from the Tim Burton era featured in movies like Batman and Batman Returns. He took an old Lincoln, spent a lot of time and money and the end result you can see above and below in a video taken on the streets of Stockholm. It also seems that he incorporated quite a lot of gadgets any crime fighter would need, including machine guns (fake or not), satellite navigation, rear-view cameras, and for the times you go on stakeouts near the Joker’s hideout, a DVD player and a plasma TV. Coupled with the 700 HP the car supposedly produces, this is certainly an investment most Batman fans would be jealous of. Source: PopSci Post published on Rpmgo.com Related posts:

Lumma Design unveils first sketches of Porsche Panamera CLR 700GT Posted: 06 Oct 2009 11:35 PM PDT By now almost everybody has heard about the Porsche Panamera and seen its “controversial” looks. But even though the German company wanted to create a wholesome and family-friendly super sedan, the team at Lumma Design thought that with a few modifications, the performance and aggressive pedigree of a Porsche can still be found. That is how the new Porsche Panamera CLR 700GT was born. Bear in mind though that these are just the first sketches and the styling kit isn’t ready. But from what we can see here, the Panamera will definitely look like a racing Porsche thanks a new bodykit with hood-mounted air outlets, revamped front and rear bumpers and a diffuser on the back which houses four tail pipes. In order to stick to the road, Lumma Design also enlarged the wheel arches and fitted 22-inch alloy wheels. Along with a few other modifications, the ride height of the Panamera has been reduced by a whopping 35 mm (1.3 inches). Lumma didn’t reveal any plans for mechanical upgrades, but judging by the looks of the 700GT, we might see its engine receive a few tweaks when the tuning kit will appear on the market. New Subaru Outback ad gives owners the Outback detergent Posted: 06 Oct 2009 07:11 AM PDT I have to admit that I’m quite passionate about advertising and always enjoy an original and well made ad. But this piece for the new Subaru Outback really takes the proverbial cake in terms of originality. As you might know, the Outback is marketed by Japanese car maker Subaru as something you can take anywhere you want. But by doing so, the company realized that it usually ends up making the drivers of the Outback quite dirty. Their solution? Why a fictional product called the Outback detergent. This new informercial-style ad reveals just how dirty an Outback driver can get while taking the car through some very harsh environments. Watch it below and don’t be shy to share your opinion about it by leaving a comment to this article.

Bentley thinking about Continental Supersports Cabrio version Posted: 06 Oct 2009 07:03 AM PDT While it has recently revealed that its newest Mulsanne limousine will receive plenty of body versions, it seems that the UK-based manufacturer Bentley is thinking about creating yet another version of its popular Continental supercar. Based on the Supersports versions, this new model will be a convertible, and be adequately named the Bentley Supersports Cabrio. Aimed at people who want the best performance out of the Continental but also the wind to blow throw their hair, this version is set to be the most expensive one. Presumably it will be equipped with a hard top roof and powered by the big W12 6-liter engine which develops 621 HP. Extras like ceramic brakes and weight saving options like the removal of the back seat are also expected next year, when it is rumored that the model will be unveiled and launched on the market. Ferrari to launch replacements for Enzo, 599 and 612 in the next few years Posted: 06 Oct 2009 06:53 AM PDT Ferrari is certainly a busy company these days, as it already had two very big models, the California and 458 Italia launch in a very short amount of time. But according to its CEO and managing director, Amedeo Felisa, it seems that the Italian supercar maker won’t stop, as he outlined and confirmed replacements for the Enzo hypercar, the 612 Scaglietti and the 599 Fiorano models. A new flagship model, which will replace the Enzo, will hit by 2012, when we might see another V12 (or perhaps turbocharged V8) car. According to Felisa, the green technologies that the company has in development won’t be ready until then, so Enzo’s replacements will still see eggs and tomatoes thrown at it by Greenpeace. Next up, the 612 Scaglietti, which is on the market for five years but still hasn’t really become as popular as the Italian company would have liked. Its replacement is also scheduled to hit around 2012. But in order to still keep an ace up its sleeve, the 599 GTB Fiorano will still be on the market for quite some time, as its replacements will be in development for a few years, in order to give the 458 Italia plenty of room to expand its userbase. If you’re a Ferrari fan, then these news will only get you more excited about what the Maranello team has got cooking in its factory. Until we will see concrete details or concepts though, we need to wait, and perhaps search for spy shots of testing versions. Source: Autoblog Post published on Rpmgo.com Related posts:
