The Buick Regal, North America’s Opel Insignia, will return to showrooms Posted: 15 Oct 2009 04:09 AM PDT Good news for North Americans, as General Motors has just unveiled to dealers across the United States and Canada that the new mid-size sports sedan in the Buick range will be none other than the Regal, whose production ended in 2004. After spending a bit of time in China, were it was re-released last year, it seems that the model, based on the Opel Insignia, will be returning to the Americans once more. While not confirmed by Buick just yet, the model might be offered with engines like 1.6-liter, 2-liter or 2.8-liter gasoline ones and various 2-liter diesel ones. We’ll offer more details as soon as we know them. Source: Jalopnik Post published on Rpmgo.com Related posts:

2010 Mercedes-Benz E Class Convertible revealed in the first design sketches Posted: 15 Oct 2009 03:53 AM PDT Well it’s official now folks, it seems that Mercedes-Benz will chop away the top of the current generation E Class Coupe and release a convertible E Class Cabrio in the first half of 2010. The German company has just registered the design at the European Patent office and, as usual, the sketches were leaked on the Internet. Set to rival the BMW 3 Series Cabrio, this new model will be the replacement for the old CLK model and will take advantage of all of the engines currently available for the coupe version. This further highlights the “Jack of all trades” aspect of the current E Class, becoming its most mainstream model, ahead of the C Class. No more details were given, except the fact that it will sport a folding cloth top, instead of a regular one. What do you think? Does this new Mercedes convertible have what it takes to go up against BMW or Audi? Leave a comment with your thoughts. Source: CarScoop Post published on Rpmgo.com Related posts:

Audi shares more details on the future A1, says different body versions will arrive Posted: 15 Oct 2009 12:34 AM PDT Audi is definitely keen on taking the fight to BMW in the premium segment and an important role will be given to the future A1 city car, which will be revealed in the following years. Talking with Car magazine in the UK, the sales director for the German company, Peter Schwarzbauer, revealed a few more details on what types of bodies we will see the A1 sport.
This means that we might expect models from three to five-doors and even stations wagons, no to mention a convertible one. In terms of engine, rumors place the gas-powered 1.2-liter and 1.8-liter turbo motors in the future car, alongside the 1.6-liter TDI unit. We might also expect an electric version which will counter the similar versions of the Mini and the Smart. For enthusiasts, maybe a top of the range S1 might also be made. Bear in mind that this is still speculation, so we can’t know for sure that the Ingolstadt manufacturer has planned for its entry-level city car. Stay tuned in the following months for more details as they will appear. Source: WorldCarFans Post published on Rpmgo.com Related posts:

Ferrari’s sending workers home for one week in November Posted: 14 Oct 2009 11:54 PM PDT We all know there’s a recession going on, some have even felt it in not-so-pleasant ways, but it seems that this drop in spending power has even affected the rich people, as Ferrari has just announced that because of low demand in the following time frame, the end of 2009 and beginning of 2010, it will send home many of its workers for one week. This doesn’t mean that the Maranello plant will be empty, as the announcement focuses on those working in the engine manufacturing and paint department. Approximately 15% of the workers for the Italian company will be staying home between 9 and 13 November, and will return after that period. This measure aims at reducing costs but also keeping the jobs of the current people employed by Ferrari at the manufacturing plant. Hopefully things will pick up in the future and such cases of sending people home will be a thing of the past. Source: AutoMedia Post published on Rpmgo.com Related posts:

MTM takes VW Golf GTI to 270 HP Posted: 14 Oct 2009 11:45 PM PDT Not content with the stock 211 HP that the Volkswagen Golf GTI offers, and also not happy with waiting for the upcoming Golf R to be available on the market, German tuning house MTM (Motoren Technik Mayer) has just revealed a new performance and visual kit for the sixth generation of the Golf GTI. Through some heavy tinkering and engine upgrades, the team managed to get the new Golf GTI to performance levels equal to the future Golf R, meaning figures around 270 HP and a torque of 400 Nm. The new, electronically limited maximum speed is now 265 km/h, and, according to MTM, the upgrades have in no way reduced the life span of the GTI’s 2-liter engine. Other modifications include a new Brembo braking system which have eight-piston calipers around 380 mm discs and a new set of MTM Bimoto 19-inch rims, wrapped in Continenatl XL Sportcont tires. Overall, if you are very fond of the GTI and want to increase its performance, then you should really consider this package. Source: VWTuningMag Post published on Rpmgo.com Related posts:
